OMH announces the release of its latest cultural competency e-learning program - Cultural Competency Curriculum for Disaster Preparedness and Crisis Response.
Comparative Effectiveness Research Report Released [PDF | 3.61MB]
Recommendations for how the Office of the Secretary will spend $400 million for patient-centered research were released June 29 by the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER). The report [PDF | 3.61MB] and an executive summary are available.
Funds Available for Minority Health Institute in the Delta
Approximately $5.3 million is available for a cooperative agreement to improve the health and well-being of racial and ethnic minorities in the Mississippi Delta Region. Deadline: July 13, 2009.
Region VII Announces Healthy Baby Funds Available
The HHS Region VII OMH announced the availability of funds for 6-8 competitive contracts to support efforts to decrease infant mortality in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska or Missouri. Contracts will not exceed $500. Deadline: July 13, 2009.
Funds Available for Eliminating Disparities in Lupus
Some $1.6 million is available for a cooperative agreement to improve early diagnosis, treatment, and management of lupus for populations disproportionately affected. The project is expected to result in a consortium to expand and promote the utilization of more comprehensive lupus curricula in medical and nursing schools, and among health care professionals and professional associations.
Deadline: July 17, 2009.
$2.5 Million Available for HIV Projects for Youth
Some $2.5 million is available for competitive HIV/AIDS cooperative agreements that will support prevention and testing for at-risk adolescents, employing technology-based approaches, social networking web sites, and peer educators. Deadline: July 20, 2009.
HIV/AIDS Outcomes for Ex-Offenders Program Re-Opened
OMH is re-announcing the availability of $2 million for 8 to 10 new, competitive, cooperative agreements under the HIV/AIDS Health Improvement for Re-entering Ex-Offenders Initiative. Organizations that submitted applications accepted by June 12 need not re-apply.
